Price gap
A break in price between the close and the next open.
A gap is a break on the chart: price opens somewhere other than where it closed. On exchange instruments it appears after weekends and breaks, when events happen but trading does not: the market prices in all the accumulated information with a single move. The size of a gap speaks to the volume of news rather than the strength of a move. Small gaps often fill in the first days of the week; large ones caused by important news can stay open for months.
