Where price stands now
Gold is trading inside a broad accumulation zone on H4 with boundaries at 4065-4235. Within it, market participants have built a local balance on M15 with boundaries at 4130-4170.
The last closed price is . That's the midpoint of the new range and, at the same time, the 50% level of the H4 zone's width. There's no more neutral point on the chart right now: price sits exactly between two levels, and that's what I'll be working off of.
The range of recent weeks is -. The top of that swing nearly matches the upper boundary of the local accumulation, which makes a more significant level than just the edge of a fifteen-minute balance.
Why this reads as accumulation
A local balance inside a larger zone is a classic picture of large volume being built up or distributed not in a single move, but through a series of passes between two boundaries. As long as price keeps moving inside - without closing outside it, there's no direction here - just work being done within the range.
The fact that the midpoint of the local zone lands right on the 50% level of the H4 zone adds, in my view, a strong argument for genuine accumulation rather than random quiet. The balance wasn't built just anywhere - it's centered on the higher-timeframe structure.
Boundaries I'm watching
All attention is on the reaction at 4130 and 4170.
Lower boundary : as long as rejections off it keep pushing price up, the range stays alive and buyers are defending the bottom. A breakdown with a close below it opens the path toward the lower part of the H4 zone, into the area closer to .
Upper boundary : this also lines up with the top of the weekly swing at . A close above it would signal that the local accumulation has resolved toward the upper half of the H4 zone, toward .
The key word here is close. A false poke of a couple of dollars with a return back inside the range doesn't count as a breakout to me - these kinds of moves inside accumulation are a working tool for clearing out stops, not a change in direction.
What invalidates the range-bound setup
As long as price stays between and , any idea of continuation in one direction is premature. The local accumulation scenario stops being relevant the moment one of the boundaries is broken and held as a new support or resistance.
Until then, moves within this 40-dollar-wide range are just noise - and the easiest way to blow up an account is chasing a trend that isn't there.

- The last price of is both the midpoint of the local zone and the 50% level of the H4 range
- As long as price stays between and , there's no direction - this is a local accumulation phase
- A close above shifts focus to the upper part of the H4 zone, toward
- A close below shifts focus to the lower half of the zone, toward the area
