Why replay is not the same as looking at history
Opening an old chart and explaining it after the fact is easy — and useless: the right-hand side of the screen has already given away the answer. In replay the future is hidden. You pick a moment in history, bars then arrive one at a time, and the entry has to be made under the same uncertainty as in a live market. That is exactly why replay catches the beginner's central mistake — the conviction that it was all obvious at the time.
How to structure a practice session
The routine that works is plain: pick an instrument and a period, give yourself one entry rule, and walk through 30–50 situations in a row, recording each result. An evening of that produces the sample size a live market would take months to hand you. Then change one parameter of the rule and run it again. Run other people's ideas too, not just your own: apply the author's markup from a market breakdown, rewind to the moment it was published, and see how the scenario would have played out for you.
Markup and indicators work in replay
Replay is not a stripped-down side mode. Trendlines, levels, Fibonacci, patterns, indicators and trading sessions all work there exactly as on a normal chart, and markup stays anchored to the bars. Trades in replay are filled on the demo account, so on top of the entry itself you can rehearse position size, stop and target — the part of the job that actually decides the outcome on a real account.
